WRITING AND PUBLISHING LINKS Publishing Resources
Smashwords - is an epublishing site that allows writers to present their work to an online audience. Writers set the price of their book and smashwords take a few cents on every copy sold. If you follow some simple formatting guides smashwords will grant you premium status and list you with multiple distribution agencies.
Mobipocket- another e-publisher offering secure publishing. They take a little more off the top than Smashwords, but list with many online bookshops.
Createspace - A great tool for publishing your book at minimum cost. Free ISBN and barcodes. Print on Demand so there are no upfront costs. Book prices are very competitive.
Writers
Here are some links to writers I really admire. I hope you enjoy their work as much as I do.
Wendy K. Harris
Wendy writes beautifully crafted novels set on the Isle of Wight. She has written three Undercliff novels and is currently working on the fourth.
Terry Pratchett
For humour, dialogue and building convincing worlds I don't think Terry Pratchett can be bettered.
Joanne Harris
I've long admired this writer's rich imagery and sense of place.
David Mitchell
I first encountered David Mitchell's work when I read Cloud Atlas. I love the way he has of getting right inside character's heads. He weaves together the disparate threads of his stories with a deft hand.
Carol Shields
Carol Shields writes with deceptive simplicity. Her beautiful prose cut to the core of ordinary women's lives.
